Huxley Bertram provides containment as an option with the HB100 Compaction Simulator. A typical specification is as follows:
  • The enclosure contains compounds with data that supports the Roche guideline ‘3B’ also stated as equal to, or less than, OEL of 50 nanograms per cubic meter over an eight hour time-weighted average; also stated as Roche 3B level (< 50 ng/m3/TWA 8 hours).
  • The Simulator has the make-up air from the laboratory room passed through HEPA exhaust filters, and fans into the lab.
  • Movable Glove Panel Sash allows access to the machine for changes to configuration, cleaning, calibration and maintenance. The Sash moves vertically upwards for free access into the work space.
  • Four glove ports are located across the width of the door, giving access above and below the die table.
  • Light guards protect against hands being inserted whilst the machine is in operation.
  • A Pilz safety guard controller monitors containment related sensors and switches.
  • Two canister-pass-throughs of 200mm diameter are located one each on the right-hand and left-hand sides of the machine.
  • Pass-throughs accommodate all normal simulation testing requirements, but not components for re-configuring the machine for Hiestand testing or the reverse.
  • Supply includes 2 sets of filters and continuous liners, one of which will be used during testing. One set of gloves is provided.
  • The enclosure is constructed from 304 electropolished stainless steel with acrylic viewing panels.
